Where It All Began

For as long as I could remember, I was the overachiever who followed society’s blueprint for success. Get the good grades, attend the prestigious schools, land the desirable jobs. After graduating from Bowdoin College, I built a career spanning fashion, tech, and digital marketing and advertising, climbing the corporate ladder to senior leadership positions. I’d often be praised for, “doing it all” – thriving in my career while maintaining the roles of wife, mother, daughter, and friend.

I was living the reality of balancing team leadership with bottom-line pressures, navigating workplace politics, and maintaining work-life integration. But, by all external measures, I was living the dream.

Then Came The Wake-Up Call

In a matter of months, my role as a senior leader morphed into something that challenged my core values (this happened in at least two of my roles). The pressure to prioritize profitability over people’s growth left me feeling disconnected from my authentic leadership style. Despite being the go-to person who could always deliver (“Pooja’s got this!”), I found myself overlooked for promotions while watching less experienced colleagues advance due to internal politics. I was working harder, longer, and faster, yet feeling increasingly unfulfilled.

Like many women leaders, I was trying to be everything to everyone – an inspiring leader at work, a present mother at home, a supportive wife, a dependable friend, and a caring daughter. The weight of these roles, each demanding excellence, was taking its toll. I realized that “having it all” shouldn’t mean sacrificing myself in the process.

The turning point came when I asked myself: “If I had no restraints and existed in an environment where I could thrive, what would that look like?” This question led me to develop a leadership approach centered on authenticity, trust, and sustainable success. Instead of waiting for someone else to create that environment, I began living as if I already had the support and resources I needed. I created a people-first culture anchored in respect and open feedback. I focused on being fully present with my family and learned that “perfect” looks different every day – sometimes it means crushing a presentation at work, other times it means leaving early for my child’s soccer game.

At this point, much to my surprise, those closest to me were commending me on being an incredible “coach” to others. I didn’t realize that coaching was even available to everyone. I thought it was only for the CEOs and the elite.  Curious to learn how I could continue to help others, I was inspired to enroll in iPEC, the leading ICF-accredited coach training program.

Which Brings Me To Today

What started as my personal transformation evolved into my life’s calling and now, my signature coaching methodology. Through rigorous training and assessments with the Institute for Professional Excellence in Coaching (iPEC) and the International Coaching Federation (ICF), I earned my CPC (Certified Professional Coach) and ACC (Associate Certified Coach) credentials, along with a CLDS (Core Leadership Dynamics Specialist) certification.

I also became certified as an Energy Leadership Index Master Practitioner (ELI-MP). The ELI is like X-ray vision into how your brain relates to the different aspects of life, revealing why you think and behave the way you do – and most importantly – what you can do about it.

Today, I partner with high-potential leaders who recognize that success shouldn’t come at the cost of their wellbeing or values. Having navigated the challenges of feeling overworked and undervalued, I’m passionate about empowering other to build strong, people-first cultures, advance their career and personal ambitions, and write their own definition of sustainable success – one that aligns with who they truly are, not just who they’re expected to be.

Are you an introvert or extrovert?
